6 years ago, a single bolt of lightning ignited at the top of Okanagan Mountain Park and destroyed a devastating amount of land and property. Today, another bolt hit in the Myra Canyon region, resulting in a 3.5 hectare fire.

Now, I know that they are up there, actually doing something about it right away, but I can't help but be afraid that the fire is going to re-destroy the trestles that have just been re-completed for just over a year now, as well as further damage the significantly smaller amount of greenery that is left.

I was just up at the Kettle Valley Trestles, having hiked 11 kms, and its sad to think that it might be gone again...

EDIT: The fire has now almost doubled in size...

EDIT 2: (June 8, 2009) They seem to have it under control now...thank goodness
